Things Not Seen Book Report

The science fiction book Things Not Seen had only a few characters but they were all very different. The main character in Things Not Seen was Bobby Philips. Bobby Philips was a boy that turned invisible. His dad is a total genius and his mom is a literature professor. Bobby and his family live in Chicago. Bobby’s dad works at a lab smashing atoms. His mom teaches at a local college. Through the whole story Bobby and his parents were trying to figure out what caused Bobby to become invisible, and why. While Bobby is invisible he meets a girl that he would have overlooked in the past.
It all started one morning when Bobby woke up and looked in the bathroom mirror. He didn’t see anything nothing not one thing. He told his parents and they just thought it was one of his tricks. They finally realized he was telling the truth. His mom thought they should call everyone. His dad said we should keep things quiet. They went with dad’s idea. Bobby needed to stay home from school while his parents went to work and thought about how to solve the problem.
Bobby left the house after his parents left and went to the library. That where he got his toenail jammed by a girl at a computer and that is also where bobby met a new girl. She was blind but bobby thought she was really pretty. Bobby kept seeing her. And soon figured her name was Alisha. Bobby always talked to Alisha on the phone and the also emailed each other. Soon after they kind of became boyfriend and girlfriend.aleesha soon was told that from bobby that he was invisible. Alisha didn’t believe him so she asked this man “who is taller me or this kid next to me?” the man just said “there is no one next to you” now Alisha believed bobby.
Before he met Alisha his parents got into a huge car crash. His mom got a concussion and a broken nose. His dada injured his left are a wrist really bad. It happened by this red jeep that didn’t know it was a red light. Mom was in the hospital for about three days. Dad was there for about five days. Bobby really felt bad that he had to lie to the doctor because he was invisible. He had to say that Aunt Ethel was coming to stay with him while his parents where in the hospital. Aunt Ethel really lived in Florida and mom knew that. That is who mom told the doctor for bobby to call.mom is still cleaver even with a concussion.
Now the police have been coming to the house because they are wondering why bobby has not been coming to school for about three weeks. The think that his parents either did child abuse or he is really sick. But the parents are lying about bobby being sick so they couldn’t bring in a doctor’s note to stop all this. Bobby’s mom just said that he was staying in Florida with his aunt Ethel. It was soon settled and everything was fine.

Rainy Days

I usually go to the movies or just stay inside and explore toys and games I haven’t touched in awhile. I also like to sleep on rainy days. Rainy days are long and boring. They can also be fun. Rainy days could be more fun if it actually rained cats and dogs. But then in would be trouble and could cause major injures too. I’m glad for rain! Yeh for rainy days!

Global Warming

Do you know that there is a lot of garbage being dumped into our oceans? Many penguins, birds, fish, and other animals have died because of chocking or suffocating themselves while eating this trash. People must recycle, reduce, and reuse not only at home but communicate this to the government. Let’s get involved. Be sure you are doing your part.

Music

I think music is genius because without music TV shows and movies would be boring. TV shows have great theme songs and background music. The same goes for movies. The music becomes part of the message of the show or movie. I know long ago there were silent movies and I think they may have been fun to watch. Now that we know how music can change a scene or a show I like that better.
Yes, I may change the music depending on how I feel. If I feel happy I’ll listen to pop. If I feel sad I’ll listen to slow songs or when I’m mad I’ll listen to rock. So depending on my emotions I may change what I am listening to. Anyway when I have different emotions I don’t always listen to music I usually watch TV or read a book. I love music and listen to it quite a bit when I am happy and want to dance.
My favorite songs
1. Single ladies
2. When I grow up
3. Hot n cold
4. Hasta la vista
5. Distirbia
6. If the moon was a cookie

An interview with Emma about her Spring Break.

1. How did you get to California?
I got to California by an airplane. When we first got to the airport we accidently went to the international continental instead of the regular continental. So, we had to drive around which took about 5 to 10 minutes. We finally got to the regular continental because I saw my dad. I was excited to go to California but, I was still sad about leaving New Jersey. Well, there was another thing why I was sad about leaving is that I was sick! I had a bad cough and when I got to California I had a runny nose! Wow what a day!
2. what did you do that you always do while you are in California
Well, my dad, Harrison, and I always go to the movies. This time we went to see the new 3d movie monsters vs. aliens! It was like the best 3d movie ever! We also went bowling. My dad goes bowling ever Tuesday night because he has a bowling league. His bowling league name is called Vegas or bust. There is this guy on somebody else’s team not my dad’s anyway his handicap is 7, 7 is a really good handicap because that means you bowl a 200 or 190 almost every game!
3. Did you do anything new?
I went to the wild animal park in San Diego. It was my first time same with my brother and dad. We couldn’t go to the butterfly exhibit because the line was super long. We saw gorillas, birds, Meer Kats, giraffes, rhinos, snakes, ducks, deer, gaze, and many more. My favorite animals were the twin giraffes, baby elephant, and chuck he’s a rhino! I like the twin giraffes because they were twins and that is very rare because it takes about 15 years before a giraffe could have another baby. I liked the baby elephant because it was only 5 weeks old and it took about half an hour just for it to stand. Cute! I liked the chuck because he was eating all alone and he really didn’t care. I had so much fun at the Wild Animal Park.
4. What was your favorite part this spring break?
My favorite part this spring break was Easter Sunday because we went bowing at the bowling alley for an Easter bowl tournament. We had 4 teams Harrison and Donna, gut and Chris, dad and Whitney, and tangle and Emma. We had random prizes like a princess Frisbee, Hanna Montana poster, hot sauce, towels, brains, a fireman, and hands that were sponges, and so much more. I had a blast!
5. What was your least favorite part?
My least favorite part was when we went to this baseball park where they have little league anyway I was riding my scooter and I fell. I fell by a big crease in the side walk. I was riding by the crease and I was turning when I was in the crease and I fell. But, I was wearing a helmet so I was ok. I scraped my knee and bruised it I also scraped up my hands to. But, I had fun riding my scooter the rest of the time I was there.
6. How did you get back home from California?
Well, as for everyone leaving someone or someplace is hard but you end p having fun. I left California by and airplane. But, it was delayed and my dad wouldn’t be able to catch his flight when we got in New Jersey so, my brother and I had to fly by ourselves. I didn’t want to fly by myself because I wanted to spend a little more time with my dad. . I have to fly alone in the summer so this was kind of a practice. But, I would do it again. I did have some fun but, I really wish my dad could fly with us.

My thoughts about Race to Witch Mountian.

I thought that the movie Race to Witch Mountian was an action packed movie. I thought that the movie was a 8 out of a 1 to 10 scale. I would want to see that movie again or buy the movie on DVD. I would like to see the older verson of Race to Witch Mountian. If a book comes out and its not like one of those easy reads then I would buy it. My favorite part was when Jack and the alien were fighting and Jack pulled the aliens mask off and you got to see what the aliens head really looked like. That was so cool!

How am I going to be effected by government bailouts?

I think the government bailouts are going to affect me in different ways. Since its really effecting adults right now they have to worry about their jobs, everything is costing more money like gas, and higher taxes. I don’t really have to worry about those things because I’m a kid but I do have to worry about my parents spending more money on things like gas and food and worrying about losing their jobs and retirement. My grandmother thinks that I will have to deal with this problem as an adult because there is a great chance that are taxes will still be paying for these bailouts.

What was the "Best Bad Thing" that happened to me?

One thing that I thought of is the time I wanted to quit the violin and play the flute. But, my mom didn’t want me to quit because I had been playing for four years! So my mom and I made a deal that if I took violin lessons over the summer I could quit the violin at the end of summer. I went to the summer arts program at the middle school and it turned out that I LOVED playing the violin! Lessoned learned listen to your mother!

Do you think bad things happen in threes?

I don’t believe that this is true. I have no evidence that this has happened to anyone I know. But, I do know that a lot of thing come in threes like peas, the blind mice, the wheels on a tricycle, sides on a triangle, the three musketeers, triplets, the power puff girls, the three little pigs, rub-a-dub-dub three men in a tub, the chipmunks, tennis balls, and rings on a binder. I don’t think any of these things have brought bad luck!

Bullies

Bullies! Bullies are people that think they can overrule you just because you’re smaller or weirder or just because they got bullied. Try to stand up for yourself. If you see someone getting bullied get an adult or teacher. They will stop the bullying and you won’t have to worry. I have never been bullied before but if I ever do I would stand up for myself. So if you’re getting bullied or see someone getting bullied tell an adult. But, if you’re the bully just stop because you’re going to get in trouble sooner or later.

What do I want to be when I grow up?

I still can’t decide what I want to be when I grow up. I might want to be a radiologist. A teacher might be a good choice because I love little kids. They’re so funny. I also might consider being a dentist because they use lots of cool tools and gadgets with buttons. Another interest I have is a chef because I love cooking food and I love preparing dishes for people. If I continue with violin I may be a concert violist. I don’t know what I will actually be when I grow. Maybe, I can be several things. I do know that someday I will have a great job that I love.

What will the World be like in 20 years?

In 20 years from now it will be 2029. In 2029, I will be just about 30 years old. I hope that our economy will be better. Twenty years from now I hope that global warming is a thing of the past. In 20 years I hope there is a cure for all diseases like cancer. Most likely we will have a women president and I will consider running for president when I’m a little older.

State Capitols

The United States of America

Do you know your 50 states? I do!!! I can recite all the states alphabetically and I know all the capitals too. Here are a few of my favorite state facts. Delaware was the first state and Hawaii (my birthplace) was the last admitted to the union. Rhode Island is the smallest state. Texas is the largest state. California is the longest state. You may think that Georgia is famous for peaches but did you know that Georgia is most famous for Coca Cola. Do you think Lincoln was born in Nebraska because of its capital? Actually Lincoln was born in Illinois. Last Saturday I hope you sent a big Happy Birthday to the one and only… Arizona. Yes, Arizona was founded on Valentine’s Day! If you are like me and love cheese – visit Wisconsin. They make two billion pounds of cheese each year. It is true that Wisconsin’s' are proud to be called Cheese Heads!
